These terms apply when you read or otherwise use thetesserapress.com. Loading a page is taken as acceptance. None of what follows is especially exotic; the point is simply to be clear about it.

Ownership

The stories on Tessera, the Tessera name, the four-tile mark, and the site's typography choices are the work of the Tessera Newsroom and its contributors. Quotes, figures, and source documents reproduced inside a piece belong to whoever produced them and are credited in the prose.

What you can do with the work

Read it. Link to it. Quote it. Send it to a colleague. Excerpt a paragraph or two with a credit and a link back — that is the deal we want with every reader.

What needs our written permission first: republishing a whole story elsewhere, syndicating Tessera content into a feed or app, building a product whose value is mostly our work, or any commercial reuse. The contact for that is [email protected].

Pitches and submissions

When you send work to Tessera for possible publication, you are confirming it is yours to share. You keep copyright in your own words; you give us the right to edit, fact-check, and run the piece on the site. We do not pay for unsolicited submissions unless that has been agreed in writing before publication.

Things we ask you not to do

• Republish whole articles elsewhere as if they were yours.
• Attempt to break, overload, or probe the site.
• Scrape abusively, or in a way that interferes with other readers.
• Pretend to speak for Tessera, or use the name to imply a relationship that does not exist.

Outbound links

We link to other sites where they are useful. Those sites are not ours, we do not control them, and a link is not an endorsement of their content, accuracy, or how they handle data.

Journalism is not advice

Tessera is journalism. Even where a piece quantifies something or offers analysis, it is not legal, financial, tax, medical, or other professional advice, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for any. If a decision in your business has real consequences, talk to someone qualified who knows your situation.

Service, and the lack of guarantees

The site is provided as-is. We work to keep it correct, current, and online, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, error-free publication, or that any specific piece will remain available forever. We may change, retire, or restructure the site — or these terms — as the newsroom evolves.

Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Tessera Press is not liable for loss arising out of your use of the site, reliance on anything published here, or any interruption to it. Nothing in these terms purports to limit any liability that cannot, under law, be limited.

Changes

When these terms change, the “Last updated” date at the top moves. Continuing to use the site after that is acceptance of the new version.
